It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
